Production Services.

Put Filmanthropy by Design and Regenerative Filmmaking into practice, in ways that fit your production and the communities it touches.

Choose the step that fits

Start where your production is.

You might have a cause you care about, an idea for your location, or simply a sense that your film could give more. Discovery starts with that interest and the realities of your production.

Together, we explore the Filmanthropy Spectrum: reducing harm, actively giving back and creating lasting value. That could mean sharing materials, skills or access, supporting a cause, or developing something a community can keep.

The aim is a contribution that serves the people involved and fits your film’s creative ambitions, budget and schedule. Choose the support you need: Discovery, Design, Liaison or Story. If you’re already giving, we can start with what’s underway.

The services you can begin today.

Choose one service or work through the full sequence. Discovery is the usual starting point; if your production is already giving, you can begin with Story. We also support New Jersey’s Film Ready towns.

01

Discovery

a working session

We work with your film’s key people, drawing on the Ledger’s research and real examples of giving through film. We explore what matters to your production, what community partners could use and what fits your budget and schedule. You leave with a clear intention and practical opportunities to explore. Starting before production lets those choices inform planning; if filming is already underway, we begin with what is still possible.

For productions at any budget, ideally before filming.

02

Design

the written plan

Turn the intention into a practical Filmanthropy by Design plan. We set out what your production aims to contribute, how it could happen and who would be involved. The plan can cover materials and resources, people’s time and skills, and financial giving, including a share of proceeds or support for a cause or foundation. It includes researched recommendations for community partners and recipients, with responsibilities and next steps to build into your production plan.

For productions ready to move from intention to plan.

03

Liaison

the giving, carried out

Bret carries the agreed plan forward, connecting your production with potential community partners and recipients. He helps establish what is wanted, agree the practical arrangements and coordinate the contribution with the people involved. The focus is on following through: clear responsibilities, workable timing and giving that is useful to the community.

For productions that want the giving carried out, not just planned.

04

Story

told well, recorded honestly

We help tell the story of your production’s giving through writing for social channels, press materials and an account of what was contributed and received. The work reflects the experiences of the production and participating community partners. We can also discuss sharing it through the Filmanthropy Ledger and Social Effects NJ channels. If your production is already giving, Story can be the only service you need.

For productions whose giving is real and deserves to be seen.

For New Jersey’s Film Ready Towns

New Jersey’s Film Ready communities are helping productions find a welcome, navigate local processes and build relationships. We want to support that work, helping towns and productions explore further opportunities for local businesses, learning, reuse and community benefit.

Our independent services would work alongside municipal liaisons, production teams and community partners. Together, we could identify local priorities and plan practical contributions that fit the production, building on what the town and its partners already do.

Each service carries a fee. We can also gift a service to a production with no budget: Filmanthropy, applied to our own work.

Production Reuse

Film Biz Recycling Franchise.

We are exploring a New Jersey operation for material recovery, logistics and recipient relationships. This proposed work would complement existing programs such as NJ Take 2 and add practical capacity for productions and communities.
